Sophie Nathan hails from New Zealand. Growing up, she played soccer professionally & was training for the World Cup. But during a game she broke her back, bringing her very close to losing movement in her legs. She was devastated. One week later, she was scouted for modeling which has given her incredible opportunities to travel. Her message? Even in tough times, there’s a silver lining.
DESCRIBE YOURSELF IN 3 WORDS:
“Competitive, giggly – you can always hear me coming before you see me, and happy. I’m a pretty happy person, lots to be happy and grateful for.”
YOUR SECRET TALENTS…
“I can do a Rubik’s Cube in about 2 minutes. A very odd party trick to have.”
ON LEARNING THE RUBIK’S CUBE…
“I’m a very competitive person and this girl at school brought in her Rubik’s Cube and I just had my mind set that I wanted to do it. I had no idea how to do it or where to get one. So I told my parents and they were like, ‘okay, we’ll get you one’. So I practiced, practiced and practiced and now I can do it.”
SOMETHING PEOPLE WOULDN’T KNOW ABOUT YOU….
“I used to play the drums. I loved jazz music and Latin American samba so I did that for 9 years. As bad as this sounds, I started it because you got to get out of class for an hour haha. But once I started, it was a really cool release and music is such a big part of my life.”
HER WEEKLY WORKOUTS…
“I go to the gym Monday to Friday. We always had really good training programs when I played soccer for strength and conditioning so I definitely keep that up. I also go running a couple of times on the weekend. When I’m at gym, I usually start with 20 minutes of cardio and then about 30 minutes of bodyweight exercises.”
HER FAVE BOOKS:
“Can I have two? Two books I’ve read over and over again are The Power Of One by Bryce Courtenay and Mao’s Last Dancer.”
