“Spending time with family and friends, travel, walks along the beach and through the country side.”
DESCRIBE YOURSELF IN ONE SENTENCE…
“We are both fun loving, positive and passionate girls doing our thing to make a difference.”
ANY KEY MENTORS OR PEOPLE WHO HAVE DEEPLY INFLUENCED WHO YOU ARE…
“Kara is inspired by her parents and sister who have supported and believed in everything she has done and become unconditionally. She is also influenced or inspired by Lisa Messenger, Oprah and small business owners in general who are passionate about making a difference.
Bec feels extremely lucky to be surrounded by an amazing tribe of women who inspire her daily as well as every day people making a difference in someone’s life.”
ANY LIFE CHANGING EXPERIENCES, IF SO WHAT WERE THEY…
“Kara experienced major challenges when parenting her youngest child and found she hit rock bottom whilst locking herself in her bedroom crying, thus seeking help and using this as motivation and inspiration to share stories, inspire others to get help and start conversations.”
WHAT MOTIVATES YOU?
“We are both motivated to assist small business’ change the way they grow and we love seeing them flourish. We are also inspired to start the conversation about mental health with women in small business as this is a major factor within the entrepreneurial world.”
HOW DID THE IDEA FOR SOCIAL CONXN COME ABOUT?
“We had been working alongside each other for some time and both touched by mental health so it was only fitting we joined forces to spread our wings and grow. Mental Health does not discriminate so we are passionate about giving back and educating people to speak up about it to get the help they need.”
WHY IS MENTAL HEALTH SO CLOSE TO YOUR HEART?
“Kara speaks very openly about the mental health challenges she faced when parenting her 2nd child and how she felt so isolated because she couldn’t recognise at the time she needed help. Once she put her hand up, it was the best thing she could have done and has received nothing but love and support.
Kara would be known as a confident, positive and happy woman so it shows that mental health can affect anyone. Bec, also a long time anxiety fighter, has had to work really closely with health professionals to implement strategies to assist in a healthy mindset and lifestyle.”
HOW LONG HAS THE EVENT BEEN RUNNING FOR?
“This is the first event of this type and we look to continue with these events because of the response and passion we have to make a difference.”
WHAT HAS THE RESPONSE FROM THE LOCAL COMMUNITY BEEN LIKE?
“We have had great response, with messages of support and love and many contributions from other small businesses looking to support the cause.”
