3 WORDS TO DESCRIBE HER:
“Strong, funny & ambitious.”
ON HER MORNING ROUTINE:
“It’s a no-frills morning routine when I’m teaching a 5am class. The alarm goes off at 4am and I’m in the shower by 4.01am, then dressed and ready for a quick bite to eat before leaving for the gym at 4.20am.”
FAVOURITE RUNNING TUNES:
“I love lots of different types of music depending on the training, but I really like to hear the sounds around me when I’m running so I mostly run without headphones.”
ON HER PRE & POST WORKOUT MEALS:
“I like to have a big breakfast: eggs, spinach, tomato and mushrooms. I have to make sure this is at least an hour before my workout so my body has time to digest it and make it available energy.
Post workout is a protein rich shake within the first 30 minutes.”
ON STRENGTH TRAINING TO COMPLIMENT RUNNING TRAINING:
“Strength training is very important when it comes to running training. I don’t care if it’s weight machines, body weight or functional training. It all helps.”
TOP TIPS FOR STICKING TO A RUN TRAINING SCHEDULE…
“1. Set a realistic goal – There are thousands of training schedules out there to pick from and not all of them will be suited to you. It’s easy to “over reach” when writing up a training schedule, which can lead to feeling disappointed or even end up with unnecessary injuries. Be kind to your body and let it adapt.
2. Mix it up – Map out a few routes that change the scenery. I love being in nature so naturally love a good trail run or the beach but I also like to switch it up with an urban/industrial run so I feel like I’m in a scene from Rocky lol.
3. Love the training – Once you know what your goal is and you know what you want to accomplish simply enjoy the training. Enjoy the privilege of being able to move your body.”
ON THE ‘RUNNER’S HIGH’…
It takes a bit to get there but when the endorphins kick in I start to feel like I’ve found my rhythm. There is a point when my legs feel light and strong at the same time and my lungs agree to give my body the oxygen I need to keep going.
BEST ADVICE FOR NEW RUNNERS…
“Build up to your goal and listen to your body.”
CHANGES GIRLS CAN EXPECT TO SEE IN THEIR BODIES AFTER COMMITTING TO #RUNGIRLRUNCLUB:
“The obvious changes are physical, like weight loss and increased VO2 max but I think the most important changes will be on the inside.
At Bellatrixx we talk about training our “inner warrior”. It’s the inner warrior that will become more confident, feel accomplished and grow stronger.”
