THREE WORDS TO DESCRIBE YOURSELF…
“Active, positive, happy.”
“5am – Wake up & get ready for work
5.20am – Have breakfast (usually cup of English breakfast tea with milk and honey, Rye toast with banana and almond butter or overnight oats with berries if I have time)
6am & 7am – Clients or classes depending on the day
8am – I work out, either a run, some strength and conditioning or a future class program
9.30am – Head home to the office & my dog! For planning, programming and maybe another breakfast!”
TOP TIPS FOR STICKING TO A RUN TRAINING SCHEDULE…
“FOCUS ON YOUR GOAL: Your goal is exactly that, your goal! It should motivate & inspire you when you think about it! Don’t worry about what other people are doing or what they can do. Your goal is about doing your best!
MAKE IT A HABIT: The best way to stick to a training schedule is if you make it a habit! Set out times each week or book out time in your calendar for #RUNGIRLRUNCLUB. Prioritise it, have a solid routine & make your training count with the time you’ve allocated because through consistency you’ll see your results!
BE POSITIVE: Positive self-talk is a skill like any other, and it’s so important in helping you keep to your schedule. You want to wake up and think about reasons why you have chosen your running goal, being positive thinking about crossing the line and how good that will feel!”
BEST ADVICE FOR NEW RUNNERS…
“Start slow and be consistent. Start out gradually and build up to running your goal distance vs. trying to sprint 10kms from no training. You’ll find that you can enjoy running and get a sense of achievement not only that you’ll be able to develop your mental strength & cardio fitness! Gradually your runs will start to get easier, and you have more time to enjoy running! And less of an uphill battle!”
WHAT CHANGES CAN PEOPLE EXPECT TO SEE IN THEIR BODIES AFTER COMMITTING TO RUN GIRL RUN CLUB?
“The main changes you’ll see after committing to 8 weeks of the run girls is the development of your running! Expect to improve your running, mainly distance, and like other new exercise regimes together with a healthy balanced diet you may see weight loss as your muscles work in new and different ways!”
FAVOURITE CAFES OR RESTAURANTS IN BALLARAT TO REFUEL AFTER A TRAINING SESSION…
“The Local: Is my local and I love it. It has the best baked beans ever and granola that’s every bit as good. The beautifully airy cafe is just a great place to have a cuppa and plan some sessions or sit and watch the world go by.”
“The Unicorn: This cafe is so relaxed, you could take anyone here and they’d love it. I sometimes meet clients here for a catch-up. The menu is diverse with some great vegetarian options. I’m also a mega fan of the Banana Chia smoothie if you need a quick refuel on the go!”
