At our recent shoot in Port Douglas, Kirsty Barros was on location as our stylist. For our Halloween range, she set up a truly Insta-worthy picnic that we were lusting over. From decadent cakes to spooky candlesticks & pumpkins! We asked her top tips to styling a Halloween-inspired picnic & her advice for anyone wanting to pursue a career in styling…
TOP TIPS FOR STYLING A HALLOWEEN-INSPIRED PICNIC:
– Sickeningly sweet things are the key ingredient!
– A bunch of your favourite people!
– Throw in some pumpkins, candlesticks & magic tricks.
– And for the perfect mood lighting, wait until dusk!
WHAT IT WAS LIKE ON SET WITH BODY…
“The BODY shoot was pretty dreamy! For starters I’ve never been to Port Douglas before so my excitement levels were already peaking. We had an all star cast of talented creatives and amazing models that made the long days incredibly fun. What wasn’t to like? Remote tropical locations, dreamy product and great people. I’m so lucky I get to call this work!”
ON HOW SHE GOT INTO STYLING:
“My background is in design but I fell into styling through my vintage sourcing. I was styling a lot of my own shoots & suddenly people were asking me to style their shoots too. I’ve been doing it for about 6 years but before that, styling was always a part of my design jobs.”
HER ADVICE FOR ANYONE WANTING TO PURSUE A CAREER IN STYLING:
“Don’t play it safe and trust your instincts. Collaborate with as many people as you can.”
